SFL Betting Preview: Week Four

THE SFL clubs did themselves proud in the League Cup this week with four SPL scalps; this also made it a good week for the bookies. The treble on Tuesday night of Raith Rovers, Queen of the South and Stenhousemuir paid a very handsome 320/1. Amazingly, Stenhousemuir as a single paid a massive 12/1, which, in hindsight, was far too big a price. These results also proved that now is the time for a 14 or 16 team SPL – the gap between the SFL and SPL is now closer than ever and reconstruction must be on the agenda sooner rather than later.

I was happy to get the McBookie treble up last week, although it needed an inspired second half performance from Arbroath to deliver.

This weekend, I am on Raith Rovers to beat Dunfermline in the Fife Derby. They have started the season in unbelievable form and although Dunfermline are the favourites for this game, I quite fancy a shock at decent odds – 23/10

Next up is East Fife to beat Albion Rovers. Gordon Durie’s men have yet to win this season, but they have a perfect chance to change that against a struggling Rovers. The price is 4/7

Finally, in the Third Division, I am backing Berwick Rangers to beat East Stirlingshire at odds of 4/9. The Wee Rangers will be on a high following their draw last week against the Big Rangers. They will not want that great result to be ruined by failing to win their next game, and, will be well up for this match.

This week’s McBookie Treble: Raith Rovers, East Fife and Berwick Rangers on a £10 stake returns a profit of £64.90.

If Tell Him He's Pelé were a boy band, they would probably be the much-missed One True Voice, both in terms of appearance and musical output.
