Episode Eight: Darren Young

Darren Young has enjoyed a spectacular season. The Albion Rovers gaffer – in his first year in management, no less! – has won the League 2 championship, securing the Vers’ first league title since 1989. Young is understandably in an upbeat mood as he joins the Pelé Podcast to look back over the last 12 months.

He discusses the circumstances behind his arrival at Cliftonhill and how he took over after James Ward’s sudden dismissal. Young outlines how he continued to rebuild the squad and how he prepared them for the campaign ahead, as well as talking about his impact on the team as a player. The manager then reflects on his key personnel and three key games before looking forward to the new term and the challenges that await him and his side in League 1.

This is an essential listen to understand the anatomy behind Albion Rovers’ superlative season.

If Tell Him He's Pelé were a boy band, they would probably be the much-missed One True Voice, both in terms of appearance and musical output.
