If part one of Gerry McLauchlan’s Pelé Podcast was an appetiser, the second installment is a delicious fillet steak dinner with sides as far as the eye can see.
Speaking with Craig G Telfer, the defender looks back on the latter part of his career, beginning with his five years at Brechin City. Gerry examines the ups and downs of his time at Glebe Park, including three play-off appearances, injuries, managerial changes and the supporters who had a flag made in his honour.
Gerry then remembers his move to Ayr United in 2015 and his role in the side’s promotion to the Championship (and how he was phased out of the starting XI over the latter part of the season). He then talks about Cowdenbeath’s disastrous season of 2016/17 and how the club almost disappeared out of the SPFL.
He finishes by discussing how he dropped out of football completely but how he was seduced into returning and his move to Gus MacPherson’s Queen’s Park towards the end of last season.
Gerry is a thoroughly agreeable presence throughout this interview and it will chime with many lower-league fans.
